The Perils of Doctrinal Reformation and Organizational Change
After the passing of the time [1844], God entrusted to His faithful followers the precious principles of present truth. . . . Those who passed through these experiences are to be as firm as a rock to the principles that have made us Seventh-day Adventists. . . . Those who took part in the establishment of our work upon a foundation of Bible truth, those who know the way marks that have pointed out the right path, are to be regarded as workers of the highest value. They can speak from personal experience regarding the truths entrusted to them. These workers are not to permit their faith to be changed to infidelity; they are not to permit the banner of the third angel to be taken from their hands. They are to hold the beginning of their confidence firm unto the end. {CTr 367.5}
The Lord has declared that the history of the past shall be rehearsed as we enter upon the closing work. Every truth that He has given for these last days is to be proclaimed to the world. Every pillar that He has established is to be strengthened. We cannot now step off the foundation that God has established. We cannot now enter into any new organization, for this would mean apostasy from the truth.—Manuscript 129, 1905. {CTr 367.6}

1. God entrusted the SDAs with PRECIOUS PRINCIPLES OF PRESENT TRUTH. DID THE SDAs GUARD THEM WELL? NO!
2. These principles of truth have made the SDAs who they are. WITHOUT these PRINCIPLES OF TRUTH, SDAs would have NO value, because the SDA Church is a church of principle. THE PRINCIPLES OF TRUTH are the core pillar and foundation that identify the SDA Church as THE TRUE CHURCH OF GOD. If these PRINCIPLES OF TRUTH are removed, the SDA Church will become a church without value. DID THE SDAs REGARD THESE PRINCIPLES OF TRUTH AS THEIR CORE FOUNDATION? NO!
3. We, as SDAs, are not to allow these PRINCIPLES OF TRUTH to be changed. If we do, then we are not the remnant or true church of God. DID THE SDAs ALLOW THEIR FAITH TO CHANGE? YES!
4. The banner of the THIRD ANGEL’S MESSAGE is the outward identity of the PRINCIPLES OF TRUTH we, as SDAs, uphold within. If the outward identity is removed, then we may be sure that the inward PRINCIPLES OF TRUTH have also been removed. DID THE SDAs REMOVE THE OUTWARD IDENTITY OF THE TRUTH WITHIN? YES!
5. We are instructed to hold fast the beginning of our faith firm. BEGINNING? This reminds us of the PRINCIPLES OF TRUTH entrusted to the SDAs at the formation of this church. DID THE SDAs HOLD FAST TO THEIR FAITH? NO!
6. EVERY TRUTH refers to the principles of truth entrusted to the SDAs. DID THE SDAs PROCLAIM EVERY TRUTH? YES—FROM THE BEGINNING, BUT NOT NOW!
7. Every pillar that He (God) has established is to be strengthened. BUT THE SDA LEADERS HAVE WEAKENED IT FROM THE VERY CORE.
THE MOST IMPORTANT WARNING!
1. We cannot now step off the foundation that God has established. We cannot now enter into any new organization, for this would mean apostasy from the truth. Manuscript 129, 1905. {CTr 367.6}
TWO MOST IMPORTANT QUESTIONS!
DID THE SDA STEP OFF THE FOUNDATION? OF COURSE, YES!
HOW? Because the PRINCIPLES OF TRUTH, which are their foundation, were removed. Therefore, they now have no foundation. The SDAs have removed the OLD FOUNDATION to pave the way for a NEW FOUNDATION. This is evidence of STEPPING OFF THE FOUNDATION.
• DID THE SDA ENTER A NEW ORGANIZATION? OF COURSE, YES!
HOW? Find the answer in the next study.
IF THE ANSWER IS YES: THEN THERE MUST BE A REVIVAL OF THE OLD ORGANIZATION TO STAND ON THE OLD FOUNDATION GOD HAS ESTABLISHED.
• DID THE CONFERENCE CHURCH ENTER A NEW ORGANIZATION? OF COURSE, YES!
HOW? Here is the answer!
The enemy of souls has sought to bring in the supposition that a great reformation was to take place among Seventh-day Adventists, and that this reformation would consist in giving up the doctrines which stand as the pillars of our faith, and engaging in a process of reorganization. Were this reformation to take place, what would result? The principles of truth that God in His wisdom has given to the remnant church, would be discarded. Our religion would be changed. The fundamental principles that have sustained the work for the last fifty years would be accounted as error. A new organization would be established. Books of a new order would be written. A system of intellectual philosophy would be introduced. The founders of this system would go into the cities, and do a wonderful work. The Sabbath of course, would be lightly regarded, as also the God who created it. Nothing would be allowed to stand in the way of the new movement. The leaders would teach that virtue is better than vice, but God being removed, they would place their dependence on human power, which, without God, is worthless. Their foundation would be built on the sand, and storm and tempest would sweep away the structure. {1SM 204.2}
Who has authority to begin such a movement? We have our Bibles. We have our experience, attested to by the miraculous working of the Holy Spirit. We have a truth that admits of no compromise. Shall we not repudiate everything that is not in harmony with this truth? {1SM 205.1}

1. great reformation was to take place among Seventh-day Adventists and that this reformation would consist in giving up the doctrines which stand as the pillars of our faith, {1SM 204.2}
This part of the SOP quotation confirms that SDAs will go into major restructure or reorganization. When that happened the possible outcome or result will be to DO AWAY WITH OUR OLD DOCTRINES. Did it happen in the SDA church? YES.
IMPORTANT Facts:
The ESTABLISHMENT OF SELF-SUPPORTING MINISTRIES does NOT do away with our historic faith. That process of RESTRUCTURING took place in the CONFERENCE CHURCH.
The EMERGENCE OF SELF-SUPPORTING MINISTRIES does NOT promote RESTRUCTURING or REORGANIZATION.
The PRIMARY PURPOSE of establishing SELF-SUPPORTING MINISTRIES is to UPHOLD OUR HISTORIC FAITH as it was given by God and to MAINTAIN THE OLD STRUCTURE.
2. Were this reformation to take place, what would result? The principles of truth that God in His wisdom has given to the remnant church, would be discarded. Our religion would be changed. 4. Our religion would be changed. Did that happen? Of course, yes!
5. Did the Conference Church consider her fundamental principles of faith given by God as errors? Of course, yes!
6. A new organization would be established. Did that happen? Of course, yes!
7. As a result, books of a new order would be written. Did that happen? Of course, yes!
8. A system of intellectual philosophy would be introduced. Did that happen? Of course, yes!
This new human build structure in the conference church;
“would be built on the sand, and storm and tempest would sweep away the structure.” {1SM 204.2}
If you are convicted that God is calling you, as reformers, to build the old waste places (the old organization), fulfill your conviction; for God needs brave men like you who will stand for what is right, though the heavens fall.
Jerusalem is a representation of what the church (SDA) will be if it refuses to walk in the light that God has given. Jerusalem was favored of God as the depositary of sacred trusts. But her people perverted the truth, and despised all entreaties and warnings. They would not respect His counsels. The temple courts were polluted with merchandise and robbery. Selfishness and love of mammon, envy and strife, were cherished. Everyone sought for gain from his quarter. Christ turned from them, saying: "O Jerusalem, Jerusalem," how can I give thee up? "How often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not!" Matthew 23:37. {8T 67.2}
Satan is working that the history of the Jewish nation may be repeated in the experience of those who claim to believe present truth. The Jews had the Old Testament Scriptures, and supposed themselves conversant with them. But they made a woeful mistake. The prophecies that refer to the glorious second appearing of Christ in the clouds of heaven they regarded as referring to His first coming. Because He did not come according to their expectations, they turned away from Him. Satan knew just how to take these men in his net, and deceive and destroy them. . . . {2SM 111.1}
· Psalms 147:2. The LORD doth build up Jerusalem: he gathereth together the outcasts of Israel.
Isaiah 37:31. And the remnant that is escaped of the house of Judah shall again take root downward, and bear fruit upward: 32. For out of Jerusalem shall go forth a remnant, and they that escape out of mount Zion: the zeal of the LORD of hosts shall do this.
Isaiah 11:11. And it shall come to pass in that day, [that] the Lord shall set his hand again the second time to recover the remnant of his people, which shall be left, from Assyria, and from Egypt, and from Pathros, and from Cush, and from Elam, and from Shinar, and from Hamath, and from the islands of the sea. 12. And he shall set up an ensign for the nations, and shall assemble the outcasts of Israel, and gather together the dispersed of Judah from the four corners of the earth.
The great heart of the work is at-----; and, as the human heart throws its living current of blood into all parts of the body, so does the management at this place, the headquarters of our church, affect the whole body of believers. If the physical heart is healthy, the blood that is sent from it through the system is also healthy; but if this fountain is impure, the whole organism becomes diseased by the poison of the vital fluid. So it is with us. If the heart of the work becomes corrupt, the whole church, in its various branches and interests, scattered abroad over the face of the earth, suffers in consequence. {4T 210.4}
God holds His people, as a body, responsible for the sins existing in individuals among them. If the leaders of the church neglect to diligently search out the sins which bring the displeasure of God upon the body, they become responsible for these sins. {3T 269.2}
We are in danger of becoming a sister to fallen Babylon, of allowing our churches to become corrupted, and filled with every foul spirit, a cage for every unclean and hateful bird; and will we be clear unless we make decided movements to cure the existing evil? {TSB 188.3}
I saw the nominal church and nominal Adventists, like Judas, would betray us to the Catholics to obtain their influence to come against the truth.2- {SpM 1.5}
