1. MAN NEEDS SALVATION

Introduction

Salvation is deliverance from sin and eternal death through Jesus Christ’s atoning sacrifice. It is the universal need of all humanity.

“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” — Romans 3:23

1.1 Through Whom is Salvation Possible?

“Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.” — Acts 4:12

Salvation is only possible through Jesus Christ.

1.2 Man’s Condition

Man is naturally in a fallen condition:

• Born in sin (Psalm 51:5)

• Spiritually blind (Ephesians 4:18)

• Wicked in heart (Jeremiah 17:9)

• Spiritually dead (Ephesians 2:1)

1.3 Can Man Change Himself?

“Can the Ethiopian change his skin, or the leopard his spots? then may ye also do good, that are accustomed to do evil.” — Jeremiah 13:23

Man cannot change his sinful nature by himself.

1.4 What Man Needs for Salvation

Man needs:

• The Holy Scriptures (2 Timothy 3:15)

• To look to God (Isaiah 45:22)

• To believe the gospel (Romans 1:16)

• To await Christ’s return (Hebrews 9:28)

1.5 Christ as the Author of Salvation

“He became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him.” — Hebrews 5:9

Conclusion (Section 1)

Salvation is available only through Christ.
“He is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him…” — Hebrews 7:25

Salvation is a gift of grace. Those who belong to God are those who keep His commandments and have the faith of Jesus (Revelation 14:12).
