2. HOW MAN SINNED

2.1 What is Sin?

“Sin is the transgression of the law.” — 1 John 3:4
“The law is the knowledge of sin.” — Romans 3:20

2.2 The Temptation in Eden

The serpent approached Eve and questioned God’s word:
“Yea, hath God said…?” — Genesis 3:1–4

The serpent (Satan working through it) contradicted God and said:
“Ye shall not surely die.”

2.3 The Fall of Man

Eve believed the serpent rather than God and ate the forbidden fruit, and Adam also sinned (Genesis 3:6).

2.4 Result of Sin

“By one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin…” — Romans 5:12
“In Adam all die.” — 1 Corinthians 15:22

Sin brought death upon all humanity.

2.5 Definition of Sin Confirmed

“Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law.” — 1 John 3:4
